The game will, however, see the return of United favourite Robin Van Persie. He may have only given the Red Devils one good season, but that will always be one of the most fondly remembered campaigns of the era…

There’s no need to rest De Gea. The Spaniard remains one of best ‘keepers in the world.

He’s been really settling into his role as United’s main right-back and was sensational against Liverpool, making a crucial last-ditch challenge to stop Roberto Firmino scoring (above)

The Englishman has been looking calm and composed next to Bailly.

The Ivorian has been a revelation since joining. Big and strong, we wouldn’t like to play against him.

Luke Shaw

He must get a chance at some point! This is a perfect game to try and let him prove himself again and challenge Daley Blind for the left-back spot.

Michael Carrick

Carrick has not been utilised by Mourinho very much, but he’s a good member of the squad and a good run out for the 35-year-old makes sense.

Marouane Fellaini

The Belgian performed well against Liverpool. Often scapegoated by United fans, he is having a good season so far.

Memphis Depay

Similar to Shaw, it’s time to give him another chance! Both Shaw and Depay hit it off really well last season but the left-back’s injury dented their progress. Hopefully they’ll get another chance to shine on the left.

He’s the talk of the town because his performances just aren’t there yet. There’s no doubting his endeavour and work-rate, but the quality is lacking. There’s plenty of time to get it right but the £89m fee might be hanging over him, slightly.
