da brwin： Speaking exclusively to The Transfer Tavern, former Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer believes joining Crystal Palace temporarily could have been a good move for Callum Hudson-Odoi had the Eagles not taken Conor Gallagher on loan.

da dobrowin： Premier League rules prohibit a club from loaning two players from the same club, with Palace bringing in Gallagher from Chelsea at the end of July.

Callum Hudson-Odoi looked set on a move to Borussia Dortmund anyway, while Chelsea were reluctant to let their 20-year-old winger leave in the end.

Had none of the above have been the case, though, and Hudson-Odoi was able to join a team like Palace in his quest for regular game time, Palmer is convinced it would have been a brilliant loan for the £28.8m-rated English youngster.

“A lot of clubs could do with a player like that. He’s a really good player. He’s a very, very good player,” the ex-Leeds United star said.

“Crystal Palace, Patrick Vieira, that would’ve been a good move for him. Any of those clubs, really, where he just gets out and plays games.”

Unfortunately for Hudson-Odoi, it does not look like he is going to get that game time at Chelsea.

There is just so much competition at both the right wing-back position and further forward, with the England international currently having to compete against the likes of Reece James, Mason Mount and Kai Havertz for a starting spot.
